VIZ
was asked to make puppets which would be recognisable as
being the Jaëgermeister deer while making them funnier
and less "artificial" than the original puppets.
Art -director Frank Langerack and copy writer Thijs de Boer
of PPGH/JWT had conceived of a new set of six short commercials
as the start of a series of easy to make commercial.
This new concept required new puppets....more
flexible, more adaptable. In the end production house NOTCOM
was able to shoot six commercials plus a "tag - on"
in three days, quite a feat considering the technique involved.
Each character was first sculpted in clay.
Casts were made in polyurethane rubber. A skull was made
to contain the mechanical eyes and to support the animated
ears and horns. To achieve full animation each puppet required
a team of four operators behind the scenes. |
