WORKSHOP EXPERIMENTS

. Viz made extensive workshop testing for thise commercials. Below is a selection of this prep. material including high speed testing and shots of rigs used.

BALM
We slowed the balm in an aquarium and were able to twist the two streams around each other

. . .
. Sebastian Schröer at TempoMedia asked us to look for unusual images of the product. The shot of hair balm was actually shot in water to slow the pours down and to allow them to take on unusual shapes. The experiments were shot in Amsterdam using a small high speed camera and sent to Germany for comments, prior to the shoot in Hamburg.

GEL

. . .
. The Gel shots were made using glycerine, slowed down to 1200 fps. Glycerine slowed down so much doesn't appear to be a liquid . It gave the brightest results, despite the practical difficulties of working with it.

SPRAY

. .
. The spray tests were shot at 1200 fps. On the set they were shot at up to 2000 fps. We tried many variations including letting a single spray fade, shooting two sprays directly into each other, and blowing into a single spray.

POMEGRANATE

.

.

.
. This slow motion shot needed a pneumatic release to control the fall of the fruit. The pomegranate had to burst open on the table, so we pre-cut it and reassembled it in the rig. The fruit fell in the same place each time.
