DOUWE EGBERTS DEMO 2
.
Second "Aromettes" commercial
made
for Holland

. This second demo made for Holland. While for Belgium we had made a high-speed explosion filmed in reverse on the Phantom, for Holland we demonstrated the Aromette "dissolving" in hot water. We made models of various strengths and consistencies to achieve the splash and the breaking of the Aromette seen in this shot. To be fair, much of the experience gained working in Belgium with Bram Coppens on the first commercial enabled us to achieve this precision. In Holland Caramel pictures produced the demo and Ronald Koetzier directed.

Set up

. I've been using boiling water up till now. In the first tests the coffe was very compressed and very difficult to break. The last tests were done with the coffee compressed as loosely as possible in the mould. At the moment I'm building the beans under the funnel and dressing them to the camera. I am taking about 15 mins. per shot

.Piles of five beans is possible. We have to decide the arrangement before I make the pile because you can't move the beans once they're in place.
Maybe we could try the adapted pourer in the line of the camera?
